What a game! No one could have ever predicted a Cardinals/Steelers Super Bowl at the beginning of the season, but it ended up being one of the best Super Bowls I’ve ever seen. Nothing tops last year’s Giants/Patriots game (with that crazy catch from David Tyree), but this game was really fun to watch.
It also helps that we were accompanied by Justin & Melody Leedy, Dara’s dad, pizza and wings. Great combo.

I have really enjoyed my time at Caribou Coffee. It’s been a little over two months since I started working there. This is my first job outside of full time vocational ministry in over ten years.
The staff has been amazing. I have had the craziest three week span of my entire life (Baby Ben coming, my grandpa passing away, a trip to Michigan for the funeral, working two jobs and throwing in a pretty stout sickness). Through it all, the staff at Caribou and our manager have been absolutely incredible. So encouraging, flexible and willing to chip in and help.
Beyond the amazing people I work with, I have thoroughly enjoyed learning the coffee business. My coffee/espresso IQ has gone through the roof. The team at Caribou really cares about quality beverages. I am so glad I’ve learned the “right” way to prepare drinks. I have become quite passionate about coffee standards 🙂
I love Caribou.

I spent the day with my mom today. So much fun. Took her to Cracker Barrel in the morning and then spent the rest of the day wandering around Charlotte. She is so much fun! The only problem is that I have to give her back to my sister and brother in Orlando tomorrow.

I absolutely love my kids. We pray over them every night and pray that they would love God with all their hearts for all the days of their lives. We know that it’s our responsibility to raise them up to love God. It’s our role to model for them lives that are genuinely following God. I never want the fact that we are in full-time ministry to be a hindrance to their walk with God. Sometime pastor’s kids can get really sick and tired of being at church and church taking Mommy and Daddy away throughout the week.
Ever since Max was old enough to talk, I started doing something that I still do to this day. Whenever I am leaving to work on church stuff I tell Max (and the rest of the Docusen crew), “Daddy’s going to work now!” Then they run to me and shower me with kisses (on a good day).
When it’s time to go to church on Sundays or for a special event we way “it’s time to go to church!”
This is a little thing I do that is really important to me. Someday soon Max will be old enough to understand that work is church and church is work. For now, though, we want our babies to grow up being excited about church, not disappointed because Daddy always leaves to go to church.

I am quite grateful for Dara. Especially tonight. We have spent our evening putting together over 150+ letters that will be going out to every person we know (if we have their address). We are doing another round of fundraising that will go out tomorrow and then more by the end of the week.
I love doing this together. I love being able to share life with Dara. She inspires me. And she’s really organized, so it makes nights like tonight MUCH easier 🙂
We are praying for God’s continued provision. If you pray, pray for us 🙂
