Dara and I prayed for our new President Elect, Barack Obama, last night. Before heading to bed, we prayed for wisdom and guidance to come from God as he leads this country for the next 4 years.

I will never forget watching this election. There were stark contrasts between these candidates and the campaigns were run in a whole new way. From Twitter to Facebook, Yahoo! to TV and radio, everywhere you turned there was something about this election. I chuckled on Tuesday when I checked my fantasy football site and there was a presidential banner ad at the top of the page.

Both men gave great speeches last night. McCain was gracious in defeat. Obama gave the speech he had no doubt dreamed of giving for the past 21 months. Now we move forward. No matter what your political persuasion, its time for each of us to move from divisiveness to unity.

There was such a powerful picture of how far we have come as a country after Obama’s speech. His entire family was gathered in front of the podium with Joe Biden’s family. A picture in diversity. We have come so far in a short time. I pray that racial tensions would ease. I pray that judgment would be based upon qualifications and results, not the color of a man or woman’s skin. We are living in the midst of historic moments.

God bless America. I love this country.
