Dara and I have a routine that we go through every time we have to make a big decision. We pray together, then pray separately, then pray together again. If we both feel peace, we move forward. If one or both of us feel hesitance, we don’t move at all.
We have learned this lesson the hard way over our 7 years of marriage. There are things that we have had to pay a big price for (financially and emotionally) that we could have avoided if we would have just been more patient.
We felt this the past month as we felt like we were supposed to move to Uptown Charlotte. We never found anything – until today – that felt peaceful to both of us. We found a really cute townhouse in the exact neighborhood that we wanted to live in from day one of looking in Uptown. It is literally within walking distance of one of the best elementary schools in all of Charlotte (Max starts kindergarten at the end of August). We are moving forward with the application process today. Don’t know how it all pans out yet, but I do know that Dara and I are on the same page and feel peaceful moving forward.
No better way to make a decision as a couple than to be led by the Spirit, not the flesh (Galatians 5).
