I am reading through Acts these days. Chapter 2:25-28 is a pretty substantial nugget that many may pass over. It spoke so deeply to my spirit today. Peter is addressing the crowd that gathers after the Holy Spirit shakes things up. He quotes King David in this verse from Psalm 16:8 –
“I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.”
First off, David has the experience to back up this sentence. David was a man that didn’t just theorize about the faithfulness of God, he desperately depended on this reality. He can state “I will not be shaken” because God was ALWAYS with him. He never left him or turned his back on him.
I need a little bit of this in my life today. We have so many people faithfully giving to our monthly support, but our up front cash in the bank that is necessary to get through the first part of the year is running thin. So many have faithfully given. God has provided miraculously every step of the way. I am writing this to publicly declare this truth:
I know God is faithful. I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN.
This process of fundraising has been the most humbling endeavor I have ever encountered. However, I have also seen the miraculous power of God at work through so many who have sacrificially given. We just sent out another 36 fundraising packets, with another 30 to go out in the next few weeks. I am simply believing that God will do it again.
I’m so grateful for the Word of God. There are countless stories of men and women that simply would not be shaken. God provided for them. He’ll do the same for us.
