Center City Women’s Retreat

The women of Center City Church packed up and shipped off on Thursday for the beach. Ginny Gum organized a retreat in the Outer Banks, NC. 3 days on the beach hanging out, challenging each other in their faith and encouraging each other to grow. I love it.

I love the fact that we haven’t even officially opened our church, yet life-giving things like this retreat are coming together through relationships and friendships. It’s a beautiful sight. So proud of Ginny for putting this together. Early reports are that it’s going great! Can’t wait to hear all about their trip!

Introducing…

We had a great meeting on Wednesday night for Center City Church.

We all crammed into my living room and talked about the calling that God has placed on each one of our lives. Some are called to work in the community and serve the church in volunteer capacities. Others are called to work in a vocational role as pastors. We just took our first steps toward recognizing our first three leadership positions in our group.

Will Morgan and John Gum have joined our leadership team in a pastoral role. Jerred Peacock has moved into the role of the Volunteer Coordinator. He will be making sure every area of Center City Church is covered as we begin meeting at Elizabeth Traditional Elementary School on Sunday mornings.

The rest of our team has been challenged to step up and volunteer wherever is needed from February 21-April 24. This three month commitment will allow us to build a structure for more volunteers to join us in the effort of making Center City a warm, welcoming, safe and encouraging place to attend every week.

I feel so blessed to be a part of a group that is so willing to jump in and help. We are truly planting a church with a phenomenal group of Christ-like men and women. Willing to serve. Loving. Caring. Compassionate. Passionate. We’re in this together. And it’s shaping up to be an exciting journey!

How to Pray For Center City

It is such an honor when people tell us that they are praying for Center City Church and the upcoming move to our new venue, Elizabeth Traditional School. If you pray, here’s a list of things that we are asking people to pray for us:

– Wisdom and direction for our leadership team.
– Favor with the school board and our new venue – Elizabeth Traditional Elementary School.
– The ability to connect with the Uptown community creatively and effectively.
– Launch date of church: April 4th (Easter)

Thanks so much!

February 7th & 14th

Our entire team from Center City Church will be at Concord First Assembly this Sunday, February 7th at 9am & 11am. Pastor Rick Ross has invited me to come share the vision of Center City Church with their congregation. So excited to share our story. And so blessed to feel the love and support of this great church.

That means that our opening weekend at Elizabeth Traditional Elementary School will be February 14th – Valentine’s Day. The single people in our group have decided that they are going to refer to this as “Center City Day” for their own reasons 🙂

We are really excited to see that things are coming together. I’ll keep this blog posted with the new developments as we continue to move forward!

Bring Your Kid to Work Day

I picked up my son, Max (6), from school yesterday and we ended up having a blast. We drove around town and prayed for the city. We prayed for all the people that live in the houses and the kids that live in our neighborhood. Max prayed that “lots of people would come to Center City Church.” And we prayed that God would teach us how to help people. We ended our time by heading to Central Coffee Co. I worked on my computer. He played my iPhone. An unforgettable afternoon.

Max told us recently that God “asked him to teach at church.” So now Max wants to learn how to be a pastor. I gladly ablige 🙂
