Fenton Jones was an amazing man of God. He may not have a famous name like Billy Graham or John Wesley, but he is absolutely a hero of the faith. He was also a wonderful and loving grandfather to Dara. We affectionately call him Granddaddy.

Granddaddy passed away almost three years ago. During his time with us, however, he modeled a life of faith in Christ Jesus that will live on in our lives for generations to come. I find so much strength in hearing his stories. I remember one story that was so gripping, so compelling, that it brought me to tears.

Granddaddy was a pastor and church planter his entire adult life. One evening, the Jones’ found their cupboards empty and no money to eat that evening. Granddaddy told Nana to go ahead and set the table and asked everyone to get ready for dinner. God was going to provide their meal that evening.

Granddaddy prayed that his faith would result in a meal for his family. Sure enough, a knock was heard at their front door. The man at the door told Granddaddy that God directed him to bring groceries for their family. God came through again.

Granddaddy was a great man of faith. I find strength in the fact that the same God that gave Granddaddy food for his family that night so many years ago is the same God that provides for my needs and your needs today.

God always provides. Never lose sight of that. We will never go without when we fix our eyes on Christ and let our roots grow down deep into him.

**Colossians 2:7 – Let your roots grow down into him and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

I am so grateful for what Granddaddy taught me. My heart overflows with thankfulness as I remember him. May my life and yours be lived in the same vein of great faith and assurance of God’s amazing love for us.
