Dara and I sat down with a friend recently that planted a church almost fifteen years ago. We chatted about the ups and downs of church planting. The struggle and the joy of seeing new life come to our communities.

He stopped in the middle of the conversation and said, “David, have you guys been on vacation this summer?” I sheepishly looked at Dara and acknowledged the fact that we hadn’t been on vacation in a very long while. “Let me check our budget,” he said. “I remember that someone sent us on a family vacation when we first started our church. I want to do the same for you.”

We were blown away.

We just booked our vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC for three nights, four days at a beautiful, oceanfront resort. All thanks to the generosity of a pastor and friend that showed the generosity of God’s heart in a very practical way to our family.

I am so grateful for our friend. And I’m so grateful for the way that God continues to display his love and provision for our family. I can’t wait to be able to turn around and do this for someone else in the future.

Family vacation, here we come!
