COMC Graduation

The graduation for the Calvary Orlando Master's Commission Class of 2008 is tonight at 6pm. This has been a great year of spiritual growth and maturity for each of our students. I am so proud of each one of them and anticipate that the kingdom will be impacted in great ways by this group of young adults. This has been such an honor to be a part of their lives.Graduation is always bittersweet. It's so nice to close out the year and catch your breath after a long year. However, it's so sad to say goodbye to people that you have shared so much with. It will be nice to see all the family and...

From the Rooftop

We had a great day today in Master's Commission. As our final teaching time, we took a hike up to the rooftop of Calvary Assembly. What a view! As we looked out on the horizon overlooking all of downtown Orlando, I shared with them some of my final thoughts on vision. As they look out over the rest of their lives I gave them this last charge: DREAM BIG!I love vision. I love climbing onto rooftops. What a great combo for a memorable teaching. I really believe in doing thing like this to enforce teaching points and make memories that they can use as reference points when they think back to...

The First 20

Dara and I have just sent out our first 20 fundraising magazines. This is such a major step for us. We've never had a dream this big that requires so many people to jump on board. I love the fact that this is so much bigger than me. I know that only God can place generosity in the hearts of people to give sacrificially. It is so humbling to ask people for money, but so exciting at the same time. I'm excited to give people an opportunity to be a part of this miracle. I love the way one friend put it:"David, I'd love to be a shareholder in your dream."The reward of being a shareholder won't be...

A Return to Blog World

It's been a while...this week has been absolutely nuts. Closing out our time at Cavlary, the end of the MC year and getting ready to move all at the same time. CRAZY!Today was a great day. Got to spend this morning with Clark Beasley. Awesome guy. Better friend. Later in the day I got to see another great friend, Paul Golin (he's in town from Nashville). We ended the evening with having a couple over for marriage counseling (one of our favorite things to do in ministry). Life is good.

Charlotte

I have never been so in love with a city. As I was driving around Charlotte today with some dear friends (Clark and Salina Beasley) I found myself taking in the Charlotte experience with all 5 senses. This place has truly captivated my heart. As we were leaving lunch today, it was as if God has painted the most picturesque day just for us.We had our fourth gathering yesterday of people interested in launching Hope Church with us this fall. This meeting had a whole different feel to it than any other to date. There was such energy in the room. It was so great to have some of my closest...

My God Is So Big…

We have a little song that we sing with Max and Mary...hand motions and all. It goes a like this:My God is so big, so strong and so mightyThere's nothing my God cannot doThe mountains are his, the valleys are hisThe stars are his handiwork, tooMy God is so big, so strong and so mightyThere's nothing my God cannot doWe just had a meeting with a family that has officially become our first financial partners in our dream to make Hope Church a reality. It is so humbling to know that people would sacrifice so much of their hard earned money to invest into our lives. My God is SO BIG...

Into The Wee Hours…

Dara and I are up until the wee hours of the morning working on our fundraising materials. We have designed and professionally printed magazines that will go out to over 200 people in the next two weeks. This is our major push to raise our salary for the next year so that we can realize the dream of planting Hope Church in Charlotte. As we're sitting here at our kitchen table with bloodshot eyes at 1:00am, I can't help but love the fact that we're doing this together. I'm writing personal notes to people and she's making the labels and gathering addresses. I love the fact that we're in this...

360 Church

I have the opportunity to lead worship tomorrow for a great friend. Chip Kelly and I worked together at Calvary for a while and we really connected on multiple levels. He has since planted 360 Church in Winter Park, FL. I go out there a couple times a year to lead worship and reconnect with Chip. He is a creative thinker and a phenomenal communicator.I'm excited to lead worship, but also to simply sit under his teaching tomorrow!

Orlando Magic

Ugh.That's the way I feel right now. The Magic got clobbered tonight by the Pistons. I love sports, but hate it when my teams lose. That's ok...all we have to do is win ONE in Detroit and we'll be ok coming back to Orlando!GO MAGIC!!!
