One more quote that’s sure to challenge you…
I’m a huge fan of Mark Batterson. I don’t know him and he surely has never heard of me…but he has a great blog that covers life, leadership, church planting and everything in between. You should check it out: www.evotional.com
Anyway…he had a great quote on his blog the other day that simply changed my perspective on Scriptures and reading the Bible and got me back on track with my conviction to journal when I study God’s word. Check it out…
I don’t think the Bible was meant to be read. I think it was meant to be meditated. Meditation is a thoughtful or prayer reading. I came up with this little mantra few years ago: reading without meditating is like eating without digesting. If you don’t meditate you lose all of the nutrients.
Man…how true is that. You think of the fact that your body needs time to digest the food we eat, extracting all of the nutrients and sending them to all the necessary parts of our body. Same with Scriptures…
I challenge you today to spend time with a Scripture…even one verse. Think about it. Journal your thoughts. Repeat it in your mind. Let it sink into your spirit. See if this thing called meditating really works…I guarantee you’ll like the results…
