The teaching was out of Joshua 3 as Joshua leads the nation of Israel from a season of pain & disappointment into a season of healing & fulfillment. We just sent out our first mailing to the Uptown Charlotte community yesterday. That means that people will be receiving this introduction to our church today, tomorrow and Friday. This is the first public introduction of our church to the community, so we wanted to make sure the idea matched the heart, simplicity and beauty of what God has formed in the last nine months. We kicked off Dara's 30th birthday weekend by heading to the Melting Pot with some of our closest friends last night (the leadership team of Center City Church). There is a non-profit coffeehouse in Charlotte, NC that is making a huge difference in the lives of families all across our city. It's called Julia's Coffee. All profits from this amazing coffeehouse go directly to Habitat for Humanity's effort to build homes for families in need. Julia's has an incredible vibe. About 400 square feet is dedicated wall to wall with books that have been donated. The remaining floorspace of approximately 700 square feet is dedicated to the espresso bar and lobby. We enjoyed a powerful time of worship and exploring God's Word today at Center City Church. There is a new level of passion and expectation in our group that is so inspiring. I can feel the spiritual awareness rising in our church, and that is a powerful feeling. I truly believe that this hunger is going to lead to the miraculous. Simply put - I believe we are about to see miracles happen in our community. I love the feeling I get on Saturday nights. I stare at my sermon notes for a while, wondering what God is going to do the next morning. I feel the message deep in my spirit. I see the people in our church when I am reviewing my notes. I long for them to capture something that captivates their heart and compels them toward Jesus. I pray for our church. There is no other feeling comparable to Sunday Service Eve. And I feel it every single week. It's full of hope, promise, uncertainty and expectation. I can't wait for tomorrow morning.
