Little League Landscaping Project

Posted on May 8, 2014

My older sons, Max and Jack, started playing baseball this year at Myers Park Trinity Little League. It’s been an incredible opportunity to be introduced to this league that serves over 1,000 family members. Whenever I go into a new setting, I’m always intrigued to meet the people that run the place. So I connected with the leadership team from the little league.

What I found out was that for over 60 years, MPTLL has been serving the Charlotte area with NO PAID STAFF. All the fields are raked, watered and cared for by people that just love these kids. The schedules are made (for dozens of teams) by volunteers. All coaches are there because that want to invest in the kids.

One of the ways that we always connect with our community is to simply ask, “If you had a group of people that was willing to help…what would you ask?” And then I tell them we’ll do whatever is needed if it’s within our ability to help.

They showed me a picnic area that was created by a local Boy Scout group that has since been over run by weeds, limbs, trees, etc. So we decided that we could help. We are going to take a few hours to clear that area so that families can enjoy this area to watch the kids games again and hang out with other families. We’ll use chainsaws, rakes, shovels and collect a bunch of stories before lunchtime. There will even be littler projects for the kids to lend a hand and learn what it means to give back to the community.

Want to join us on Saturday?

We will be there from 9am-12pm (3400 Randolph Road, Charlotte, NC 28211) and we can use as many people that would like to come. The more the merrier. We’ll be right behind New Field. If you can join us, come any time after 9am to jump in and lend a hand!

I am convinced that the love of Jesus is shown by taking action and just doing something. Not just praying (although that is certainly important). Doing something like clearing out picnic areas for kids. Hope you can join us! Email me if you need more info –
