Correction

Proverbs 3:11 – My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For he corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.

I love my youngest baby, Ben, with all my heart. He is a two year old full of life and energy. Lots and lots of energy. I found him jumping on the bed a couple of months ago. I told him to stop. He cried. I found him jumping on the bed a couple weeks later. I told him to stop. He cried again. My wife, Dara, found Ben jumping on the bed last week. She told him to stop. He cried. Really loud.

We were putting the boys to bed the other night and we heard Ben crying. Turns out he was jumping on the bed and fell into the foot board of the bed. Busted his front tooth so bad that it’s now permanently pushed out of place in his gums until he loses it in a couple of years.

Every time we told him to stop jumping on the bed, he totally pitched a fit. He didn’t understand why we weren’t letting him have fun. And then he got hurt.

God loves you and I so much. He actually DOES want us to have fun, enjoy life and be happy. But he DOESN’T want us doing things that are going to lead to our version of jumping on the bed, busting our tooth out and dealing with the consequences for years to come.

What area of your life is God trying to correct?

If you trust him as a loving Father, not a prude that wants you to walk away from freedom and fun, you’ll see that he always has your best in mind. Let him speak to you. Let him bring correction. You won’t regret it. And you just might avoid busting your tooth out.
