Take Care of Your Garden

We can become so addicted to quick growth and wanting tomorrow’s dreams and promises that we severely neglect today. I have been so challenged by God the past couple of weeks to simply take care of what is in my hands. The day in, day out, monotonous things of life.

This is exactly what God calls us to do in Luke 19:26 when this parable teaches us a powerful principle: “…to those who use well what they are given, even more will be given. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.”

It it’s not very exciting to pull weeds in a garden. But it’s that very thing that brings life and health to the plants. And I am very challenged today to take care of my garden.

God has placed huge dreams in my heart. And I can get so distracted by the future that I neglect today. Today includes my relationship with Jesus, being a great husband and father, a faithful friend, loving and valuing the people God has called me to pastor, and the list goes on. There is plenty to take care of today.

Don’t sit around and dream of what your garden will look like in the spring. Commit to taking care of your garden today.

What is in your “garden” today? Focus on those things. And by taking care of your garden today, tomorrow will be much healthier.
